Early Victorian Gaudy Welsh/Dutch "Vine" Tea Service
A Beautiful Extensive Gaudy Welsh/Dutch Tea Service.
c1830 Given the shape of the Teapot. May be a little later but not by much.
With a bit of help I have identified this as a variation of the Vine Pattern. To the base of each saucer in Purple lustre is the pattern number 601/109 which ever way you want to look at it.
Traditional Imari Colour Palette.
Teapot - 18cm high 24.5 spout-handle

Slop Bowl - 16cm Dia 8cm high
x2 Bread & Butter Twin handle plates - 23cm handle-handle
x10 Cups - 6cm high 9.5cm dia
x10 Saucer - 14.5cm dia
Condition - I am going to make this sound terrible but I like to include every fault how ever small. In my opinion this service is in Good condition for its age and to expect it to be perfect would be impossible unless housed in glass box all its like. It has been used & Loved.
The Teapot Has had its spout repaired just where it bends. This is a good repair very clean. Hairline to lid handle. Sugar has discolouration spots internally & again the handle on the lid has hairline. Cream just has light spots inside.
1 Bread & butter plate has a very fine 2.1cm hairline at the handle. 1 Cup badly stained as shown. 1 cup stained with terrible crack as shown x2 light hairline at the rim. The other 6 in Good Condition. 1 Saucer has a Y crack to base. 1 saucer has staining & pitting. All other saucers in good condition.
